The "Right" to Your Opinion: Giving it Up is Everything.
Today's world is all about opinions and at first glance they're just that, opinions. The reality is that opinions run the world whether you realize it or not. Think about it, politics are based on opinions on how the country should be run or managed and the two different parties have arguments and these are most of the time for the progress of our country. However, opinions can also get out of hand and affect our world negatively in a huge way and it is on these times that giving up the "right" those negative opinions can change everything for the progress of our people and the future generations to come. Two issues come to mind when I think of how giving up the "right" to your opinion is everything and those are global warming and plastic oceans and a more idiotic issue during this pandemic.
When I say 'securing the future for generations to come' it's meant quite literally in this case. You might've heard about greenhouse gasses, global warming, and plastic oceans before and some of those who've heard it know what it is doing to the planet but the majority of people just shrug and prefer not to think about how that convenient plastic water bottle you drank out of last week is probably on the way to a turtle's intestines or that plastic bag that you accidentally let go of and were "too" tired to go pick up. Cities and communities took action and began to charge 10 cents for a plastic bag and it's working but there are still people who don't do their part. The fact is that if everybody let the "right" to their opinion go and began to contribute, no matter how small the contribution, we would literally secure the future of coming generations.
It has been established time and time again that no saw the COVID-19 pandemic coming, we say it all the time. There was nothing anyone could've done to prevent it from springing into the monster that it became, or was there? The CDC issued notices many times saying that face masks were the most effective way to flatten the curve and again the majority listened but there was also the group of people who chose to not wear one. But what does it matter it's just a small number of people who don't wear masks? That small number of people can infect two people each and then those two other people can infect more and before you know it there are hundreds of thousands infected just because a small group decided that for whatever reason they weren't going to wear a face mask. Now, what if that small group had let that "right" for their opinion go and they decided that it was indeed better to wear a mask maybe our hospitals wouldn't be so backed up right now and maybe instead of 500 to 1,000 people dying a day it could have been 80 a day or 100. It was an idiotic mistake but it only took a couple thousand lives, right?
The point is that giving up the "right" to your opinion can save lives and build a better future for the kids that are playing around outside as you read this or even the future of their kids. It's not too late though if people knew how letting that "right" go would make the world a better place everyday, there still might be light at the end of this tunnel.
You make important points here! I wish you were the President. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to reading more.
