LES MIS #1

I found it really interesting how M. Miryel went from having nothing after the Revolution to suddenly being appointed bishop simply because he was at the right place and the right time and Napoleon liked him from the little exchange they had in the anteroom. Interesting to see how this man's life turned around for him in an instant. And something else too, the book kind of depicted him as a man of secrets because it's not know how became a priest or why and why he would go to Paris in the first place. I'm honestly kind of excited to see how this continues on.

  1. You make a really good point - how much of our success is because of merit (working hard, getting good at something), and how much is because of luck or something else we can't conrol?
