LES MIS BK 2 CH 3

This chapter had a really interesting interaction between Jean Valjean and the bishop. The bishop had welcomed the convict into their home and treated him as he would've treated any other person in need. Jean Valjean was confused as to why the bishop was not kicking him out or yelling at him, even after the bishop had allowed him to stay he still questioned it. We learn that Madame Magloire does not trust the man and is hesitant to place out their full set of silverware in fear that Jean might set out to rob them. Jean briefly describes his experience in prison to the bishop and is comforted by him.
