LES MIS CH 8
In CH 8 of Les Mis the Bishop dines with a senator and after the meal the senator begins to tell the Bishop what he believes in. The senator says that he doesn't believe in God or an afterlife or that after death everything you have done, good or bad, will be rewarded or punished he says it's a waste of one's life living for God and then proceeds to finish of by saying that God is only a made-up story for the poor and beggars to munch on since they have nothing else to possess but the good God. The Bishop then appears to mock the senator and says that only rich people subscribe to such belief and acquire everything without feeling bad about themselves, destroying everything and everyone around them all while putting themselves on a pedestal.
