HOW I READ: LES MIS

 A) One thing that I personally like about Les Mis so far is how some things that have been mentioned in the book relate to current events going on at this time, like the epidemic mentioned.

B) Three techniques that Victor Hugo used to create the effects that have mattered to me are indirect characterization, figurative language, and allusion. Indirect characterization matters because it's almost like a newspaper report and helps the reader visualize the main character through other eyes. The figurative language used in the book helps to create a better image of certain comparisons and things like  that. Finally, the allusion in this books is another important technique because it really helps the reader grasp the scale of certain key events or situation in the book, for example when it is said that the French Revolution is the biggest step for humans since the advent of Christ.
